Patricia Young, CNM, WHNP, DNP
Trish’s journey in midwifery began during her undergraduate education in Biology and Women’s Studies at Luther College in northeastern Iowa. As she learned more about birthing practices through coursework and internships, she found herself feeling called to a midwifery philosophy and approach to women’s health care. She ventured westward to Seattle gaining experience as a labor support and postpartum doula, and met her husband along the way. She relocated to the Bay Area to attend the University of California San Francisco to earn dual certifications as a Certified Nurse-Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.
She moved to Alaska in 2013 and began serving Anchorage families as a provider at Midwifery and Women’s Health Care. Over the last decade she has caught babies both at the hospital and birth center environments, and most recently focused her practice upon well-woman gynecological care, preconception, contraception, and perimenopause support.
Trish enjoys skiing, gardening, cooking, and being on the water. She has two children, a partner, and a lovable labrador-mix named Gertie. She will be completing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in Spring 2024.
What Patients Say
“I haven’t had a bad experience at Alaska women’s health since I became a patient and hope to continue as a patient there after because the quality of the practice is so high.”
“This was my first appt with AWH, although I’ve been seeing Trish Young for years. Trish is, of course, amazing and I feel like AWH is so fortunate to have her. Everything about my appt. was lovely-calling to get appt, online paperwork, receptionist at check-in, who got my vitals and checked me in, the scribe had my portal login fixed before I even left the appt, and the receptionist had my ROI ready at check out. Boom. Y’allnailed it. I came for Trish, but I’ll stay for the whole experience…and I’m picky.”
“Everyone was professional, friendly and took the time to answer all of my concerns. I feel very confident in the quality of care at Alaska Women’s Health.”
“My doctor (Dr Trish) was very compassionate. I trust her with my life and my child’s life. I have experienced severe trauma from medical care in Oklahoma and was very anxious about receiving care. However, Dr Trish was so compassionate, caring, and gentle with me that I am hopeful about receiving good care this time in my life. Dr Trish is an angel.”
“Trish Young was AMAZING. She spent so much time with us, patiently answered our questions, and was so down to earth. We so much appreciated her time. THANK YOU!”
